What to watch on TV tonight: Monday

All the telly you’ll be talking about in work tomorrow.

DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

The 2019 61st Annual Grammy Awards (RTÉ2, 9.30pm)

You’ve seen a lot of the style on your Instagram feed already but tonight we get a look at what went on inside the event.

From Alicia Keys taking to hosting duties like a pro, to the special guests she invited on stage, it was full of firsts.

And the same can be said for the awards themselves with Cardi B becoming the first solo female to take home an award for Best Rap Album.

There was also a bit of sauce from the show including the moment Drake’s speech was suddenly cut short and they went to commercials.

There’s a two-hour special on the telly tonight of all the highlights.

28 Days Later (TG4, 9.30pm)

The Cillian Murphy-led post-apocalyptic classic is on the box tonight and we will most certainly be watching.

The film tells the story of a man who wakes from a coma to find that the streets of London are empty after the country has been hit with a virus that turns anyone who gets it into a homicidal rage.

Eventually finding other survivors, they make their way to the last unaffected area in the hopes of survival.

Famous and Fighting Crime (Channel 4, 9pm)

We’ve seen celebs ballroom dance, we’ve seen them survive in the jungle, so don’t you think it’s about time we see them serve and protect their communities?

Well, Channel 4 did and therein lies the premise of Famous and Fighting Crime.

Penny Lancaster, Jamie Laing, Sandi Bogle, Marcus Brigstocke and Katie Piper have all signed up to become volunteer officers helping to police the streets.

Naturally, it’s all a huge shock to the system and episode one of the four-part series will see some of the celebs pushed to their limits.

We know the drill.

Everyone’s talking about: Will Smith as Genie

Disney released their latest promo for Aladdin this week and it gave viewers their first real look at Will Smith as the Genie.

MovieAccessTrailers / YouTube

Yes, the trailer dropped during the Grammy’s last night and quickly had everyone talking about Will Smith’s portrayal of the famous character.

Smith knows he has big shoes to fill and has said that he wants to bring his own vibe to the character.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly recently, Smith said:

“Whenever you’re doing things that are iconic, it’s always terrifying.

“But I started to feel confident that I could deliver something that was an homage to Robin Williams but was musically different.”

The movie is due to be released on May 24.
